An insulating glass is made by fusing two or more glass panes spaced by dry air or inert gas. The system is perfected by separating the glass panes with an aluminium spacer tube, joined at each corner and filled with a specially designed adsorbent. The unit is then sealed around the perimeter with a flexible sealant. The inner seal is applied with buty (polyisobutylene) sealant and the outer with an elastic based on polysulphide polymer or silicone.

Energy Conservation

Gold Plus insulating Glass saves on heating and cooling by reducing air to air heat transfer.

Sound insulation

External noise pollution is effectively reduced by insulating glass. This depends on the combination of the insulating glass. Using one of the panes as laminated glass or using panes of unequal thickness help in combating the noise.

Pleasant Environment

personal comfort and energy conservation too can be heightened as the absence of cold or warm droughts brought about by insulation make the internal environment pleasant .

Wind pressure

increases ability to withstand high degrees of wind pressure. Gold plus insulating glass provides high quality of finish to the building.

Limitations :

• The insulating edge should be prevented from exposure to moisture for a very long time

• Insulating glass units shipped to or through an area with elevation of 100m or more must be equipped with breather tubes.

• Changes in temperature, barometric pressure and altitude can cause distortion. Only silicone should be used as secondary sealant for structural glazing.

• Handing and installation of insulating glasses should be done with care.

• Damaged edges or comers can result in breakage later . insulating glass Should not be rolled on corners.

• Confirminng to ASTM E 774
