Tempered/Toughened glass must be cut to size and have any other processing, such as edge working, cut-outs, notches or hole drilling, completed before being subjected to tempering/toughening, because attempts to "work" the glass after tempering/toughening will cause it to shatter.

The tempering/toughening process imposes limits on the maximum glass sizes. At present the maximum size of 2440 X 4000 mm can be toughened / tempered in India.

Some Wired glass and some patterned / figure rolled glass cannot be tempered / toughened.
